The system

The difference is in the fastening.

Fit fewer brackets. Press the coping into place. Remove individual modules when needed. This is the idea behind Francesco Palermo's European patent.

European patentEP 2 644 800 B1

Fewer fastening points, more efficient installation
In the 3-metre comparison shown, the patented parapet coping needs only two patented brackets instead of the four brackets of a conventional design. That means 50% fewer fastening points: installation is simpler and the workload drops considerably.
Up to 40 % less installation time
Fewer brackets mean fewer work steps. Depending on the project, installation time and installation labour costs fall by up to 40 % – especially on larger projects and high volumes. A sample calculation is available on request.
An answer to the skills shortage
Work that takes more time and staff with conventional constructions can be carried out faster and more economically with the system – with simple handling.
Easy access for maintenance work
Thanks to the patented fastening, each module can be released individually and properly refitted. This gives straightforward access to the parapet surface, for example for maintenance work or inspecting the lightning protection system.

Questions about the system

What is the Palermo wall and parapet coping system?

The system consists of made-to-measure wall and parapet copings with matching fixing brackets. The profiles finish the wall or roof edge and can be individually removed for maintenance.

What is the advantage of the patented fixing system?

The patented fixing system allows material-efficient installation with fewer brackets and reduced installation effort. The vertical installation method also allows installation in confined spaces without having to remove existing railing or façade elements.

How many brackets are needed for one module?

In the comparison shown, a 3,000 mm module is fixed with two patented brackets, while the comparison system requires four brackets. The actual number is determined for each project based on the structural requirements.

How is the coping installed?

The brackets are fixed in accordance with the structural verification. The coping is then pressed vertically onto the brackets and secured by positive engagement with their geometry. Installation is carried out in accordance with the installation instructions.

Can individual modules be removed again?

Yes. Individual modules can be removed for inspection and maintenance and then reinstalled. This can, for example, provide access to areas for a lightning protection inspection.

How is LED lighting integrated into the system?

LED lighting is available as an option and is integrated directly into the profile of the PMF parapet coping. The profile and lighting are coordinated according to the specific project requirements.

Which profile versions are available?

The system is available in PMF and PMV versions. These differ in profile geometry and fixing method. The version is selected according to the requirements of the individual project.

Are the profiles made to measure?

Yes. Profiles and shaped parts are manufactured for each specific project. Dimensions, lengths and connections are specified during technical planning.

Which colours and finishes are available?

Depending on the version, natural aluminium, anodised finishes and RAL coatings are available. Powder coating can be used to reproduce the appearance of anodised finishes.

Which patent and planning documents are available?

The European patent number is EP 2 644 800 B1. A building authority approval and a load-bearing capacity verification under wind loads are also available. Further verification documents and the installation instructions are provided confidentially when an order is placed.

What support does Palermo offer with surveying and planning?

Palermo provides support with technical planning, on-site measurements and three-dimensional surveying. Manufacturing takes place after technical approval.

How can I enquire about my project?
